HOW INVISALIGN WORKS?
The Invisalign technique is a method that uses clear removable aligners. They resemble those used in teeth whitening. Invisalign moves the teeth gradually through a series of aligners personalized for you. They are almost invisible and are definitely appreciated by our patients. They allow you to straighten your teeth while minimizing the effects on your appearance.
Each tray is made to create pressure in areas in order to deliver the desired movement. Every time you change your Invisalign tray, a new set of movements will occur. For this reason, it is very important to wear the trays for at least 22 hours per day. Orthodontic treatment is successful when the patients and the dentists are working as a team.
Most of the time, attachments are needed in order to create more retention and provide more effective movements. Those tooth colored attachments are made with the same material as fillings. They are usually very small and don’t show very much.
The usage of elastics are sometimes necessary with your Invisalign trays in order to stimulate the desired movements. It is important to wear the elastics as prescribed to achieve our goals and avoid delay in the treatment.
For most patients, the aligners can be removed while eating. Brushing and flossing is a lot easier for patients as there is no interference with brackets and wires during hygiene procedures. This is one of the reasons why patients love Invisalign so much.
